Overview of document generation

You can generate a document that can be viewed by other tools from the model designed by Next Design. This allows the design content to be expanded to those who do not use Next Design.

The format of the document that can be generated is as follows.

  • Word format
  • PDF format
  • HTML format
  • Image (PNG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, XPS) format

This section describes the basic operation of document generation, and the next page describes the document generation in Word and HTML formats.

Document generation basics

With the document generation function of Next Design, not only the documents and tables displayed on the form but also the diagrams displayed on the diagram can be generated as documents.

You can generate all the models included in the project as a document or only the necessary parts as a document.

The basic operation method is as follows regardless of the generated document format.

Document Generation

Operating procedure

  1. Select the model you want to generate as a document in the model navigator. If you want to generate from all the models included in the project, select the project at the top of the model navigator.
  2. Click File on the ribbon, click Export from the side menu, and select Generate Document.
  3. Select the output document format and [Target Area], then click the [Generate] button.
  4. Specify the storage location and file name of the output file in the dialog, and click the [Save] button to start generating the document.
  5. When the output of the document is completed, the file will be opened.

Other operating procedures

  • You can also output the document using the [Export] command from the context menu of the model navigator. In that case, the data from the selected model to the end is output.
